Recent internal data records about $2 billion in farms, ranches and other land for sale in the Evergreen State. This constitutes a total of 156,981 acres of land for sale in the state. Of Washington's 39 counties, Spokane County had the most land and acreage for sale. There were 6,564 acres of sold land in Washington recorded in November 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a rise in sales activity over data from the previous month. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $4 million. Lewis County had the most land sales recently in the state. Thirty-three wildlife management areas cover almost a million acres of land in Washington and offer hunters access to game species including waterfowl, grouse, pheasant, elk, and wild turkey. Sockeye salmon, steelhead, bass, as well as numerous saltwater fish species are on the hook for anglers. In terms of its size, Washington is the country's 18th-largest state, covering an area of 71,303 square miles (46 million acres). Of this area, 66,456 square miles is land, while the remaining 4,842 square miles comprises water.
