Recent internal data lists almost $2 billion in farms, ranches and other land for sale in the Evergreen State. The total size of land for sale in the state is 139,665 acres. Of the 39 counties in Washington, Stevens County had the most land and rural real estate for sale. There were 435 acres of sold land in Washington recorded in January 2019 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a five percent rise in sales activity over the month before, with a combined land value of $6 million for all property and land sold in the state. The most land sales in the state last month were located in Lewis County. Thirty-three wildlife management areas cover almost a million acres of land in Washington and offer hunters access to game species including waterfowl, grouse, pheasant, elk, and wild turkey. Sockeye salmon, steelhead, bass, as well as numerous saltwater fish species are on the hook for anglers. In terms of size, Washington is the country's 18th-largest state, covering an area of 71,303 square miles (46 million acres). In its entirety, 66,456 square miles covers land area, while the remaining 4,842 square miles is covered by water. Wildlife species to be found on land for sale in Washington include elk, mule deer, grouse, bear, whitetail deer, geese, turkey, moose, quail, and ducks.
